Satisfy your chocolate cravings with Alton Brown's Cocoa Brownies recipe from Good Eats on Food Network. For a well-balanced brownie, don't forget the salt.

Categories     dessert

Time 1h15m

Yield 16 brownies

Number Of Ingredients 10

Soft butter, for greasing the pan
Flour, for dusting the buttered pan
4 large eggs
1 cup sugar, sifted
1 cup brown sugar, sifted
8 ounces melted butter
1 1/4 cups cocoa, sifted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Butter and flour an 8-inch square pan.
  • In a mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, beat the eggs at medium speed until fluffy and light yellow. Add both sugars. Add remaining ingredients, and mix to combine.
  • Pour the batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan and bake for 45 minutes. Check for doneness with the tried-and-true toothpick method: a toothpick inserted into the center of the pan should come out clean. When it's done, remove to a rack to cool. Resist the temptation to cut into it until it's mostly cool.

BROWNIES ON STEROIDS

Brownies on Steroids image

My friend Larry, a lover of all things dessert, declared these are the most outrageous brownies he has ever tasted and nicknamed them "brownies on steroids." They are more like candy than true brownies, and they disappear at our house faster than I can make them. I have heard they keep well, but they never seem to last long enough for me to find out!

ABSOLUTELY BEST BROWNIES

Absolutely Best Brownies image

This are the easiest and most delicious brownies that I have ever eaten. They are so moist and super quick and easy to make. For best results, use a Dutch processed cocoa. For less cake-like brownies, use all-purpose flour instead of self rising.

Tips:

- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. A chocolate with a cocoa content of 70% or higher is ideal. - Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the brownies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined. - Bake the brownies until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached. If the toothpick comes out clean, the brownies are overbaked. - Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them. This will help them to set and prevent them from falling apart. - Brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

Brownies on steroids are an incredibly indulgent and decadent treat. With their rich chocolate flavor, gooey texture, and topped with a variety of delicious extras, they're sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. Whether you're a fan of classic brownies or you're looking for something new and exciting, these brownies are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
