SAM'S BROWN SUGAR AND RAISIN COOKIES

Sam's Brown Sugar and Raisin Cookies image

This recipe came from a friend who loves to bake and does it very well. I like these cookies because they are soft and chewy, but still a little bit substantial. The combination of brown sugar, butter, and raisins is so comforting, these cookies will disappear before they cool!

Tips for Baking Perfect Brown Sugar Raisin Cookies:

- **Measuring Ingredients Accurately**: Use a kitchen scale to measure ingredients for precise measurements. - **Softening Butter**: Bring butter to room temperature before creaming it with sugar. This helps incorporate air and results in a lighter cookie. - **Creaming Butter and Sugar**: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This helps dissolve the sugar granules and creates a smooth texture. - **Adding Eggs**: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This helps prevent the mixture from curdling. - **Mixing Dry Ingredients**: Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. This ensures even distribution of the leavening agents. - **Adding Dry Ingredients**: Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Overmixing can result in tough cookies. - **Chilling the Dough**: Chill the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much. - **Baking the Cookies**: Bake the cookies in a preheated oven until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. Overbaking can result in dry cookies. - **Cooling the Cookies**: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
