BROWN DERBY OLD FASHIONED FRENCH DRESSING

Brown Derby Old Fashioned French Dressing image

"From the Brown Derby Cookbook..." is where the newspaper said it came from. I haven't tried this yet, but I intend to. Maybe one of the more experienced Chef's here can explain to me why a mixture of oils instead of just one oil is beneficial. I was looking for a Cobb Salad Dressing recipe when I found this one. The paper said Brown Derby used this dressing on their Cobb Salad. I'm interested to try it because I'm always looking for good homemade salad dressings. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's a good one!!!

BROWN DERBY FRENCH DRESSING

Fast and easy to make from ingredients you already have in the house. Many dinner guests ask me for this recipe. The fresh garlic really makes this. Add less or more to your taste. I use a garlic press so it's fairly effortless. Please note that this is a more traditional French dressing and not the American French dressing. I have also used this to marinate chicken with great results.

Tips:

  • For a tangier dressing, use red wine vinegar instead of white wine vinegar.
  • If you don't have any shallots, you can use a small onion instead.
  • To make a creamy French dressing, add 1/4 cup of mayonnaise to the recipe.
  • For a more herbaceous dressing, add a tablespoon of chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley, chives, or tarragon.
  • If you're using a blender to make the dressing, be sure to blend it on low speed until the ingredients are combined. Over-blending can make the dressing too thick.

Conclusion:

Brown Derby French dressing is a classic dressing that is perfect for salads, sandwiches, and even grilled meats. It's easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a delicious and versatile dressing, give Brown Derby French dressing a try.
