- Meanwhile, place the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl. Whisk to combine and set aside.
- When the brown butter is cool, add the sour cream, honey, water, vegetable oil and eggs. Whisk together to combine.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients with a spoon or rubber spatula, then pour in the liquid ingredients. Stir just until combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake until the crust is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 28 to 30 minutes.
BROWN BUTTER SKILLET CORNBREAD
This lightly sweet cornbread has a crunchy, buttery crust, which comes from baking it in a hot skillet. If you have a cast-iron pan, this is the time to use it. The heavy, heat-retaining material will give you the darkest color (which equals the most flavor). But any large ovenproof skillet will work. And if you don't have a skillet big enough to hold all the batter, you can either halve the recipe or bake the cornbread in 9-by-13-inch pan. (Brown the butter first in a saucepan.) Your bread won't have the same dark crust, but the moist crumb flavored with brown butter and maple syrup is ample recompense.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 375 degrees. On the stovetop, in a 11- or 12-inch skillet (ovenproof and preferably cast iron), melt the butter over medium heat. Cook, swirling pan to lightly coat sides and bottom, until the foam subsides and the butter turns a deep nut brown. (Watch carefully to see that it does not burn.)
- Pour brown butter into a large bowl. (Do not wipe out the pan.) Whisk the maple syrup into the butter, then whisk in buttermilk. The mixture should be cool to the touch; if not, let cool before whisking in the eggs. Then whisk in the cornmeal, flours, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
- If the skillet is no longer hot (cast iron retains heat longer than other metals), reheat it briefly on the stove for a few minutes. Scrape batter back into it. Bake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into it emerges clean, 30 to 40 minutes. Cool in the skillet for 10 minutes before slicing.

Steps:
- 1. Using a medium bowl, prepare corn bread mix according to directions on package. Set aside. In a small saute pan over low-medium heat, melt your butter and brown it. How do you brown butter? Once you melt the butter continue cooking it for about 1 minute. You will see first see the bubbles increasing, stir a couple of time, the bubbles should decrease, and you will begin to smell a hint of nuttiness. Pull it off the heat "immediately" and transfer into a small bowl. Butter browns easily but can burn even faster. Let it cool for a half a minute. Using same skillet, pour the butter back in but reserve 2 tbsp for later basting.
- 2. Add in the corn, cook for about 1 minute till starting to soften, then pour in your honey.
- 3. Add corn honey mixture to you prepared cornbread batter and incorporate thoroughly.
- 4. Preheat oven according to package directions. Grease a 9 x 9 pan and pour cornbread mixture in.
- 5. Bake according to instructions on package and add 1-2 minutes. There are ingredients in the mix so it will take just a bit longer to become nice and golden crisp ontop. Check for doneness. When you pull out of oven, immediately baste with reserved butter.
- 6. The hard part, waiting a couple of minutes before cutting into it. Make sure you have a billy stick with you to fight off the throng of would be corn bread snatchers prior to cooling!! :-) Cut into, and take your first bite... you will be smiling from ear to ear. Sweet, nutty heaven!!

Tips:
- For the best flavor, use fresh cornmeal. If you don't have fresh cornmeal, you can use store-bought cornmeal, but make sure it's finely ground.
- To brown the butter, heat it in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns a light golden brown and smells nutty. Don't let the butter burn, or it will taste bitter.
- Be careful not to overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the cornbread tough.
- Bake the cornbread in a hot oven. This will help it to rise and get a crispy crust.
- Let the cornbread cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help it to set and make it easier to slice.
Conclusion:
Brown butter honey cornbread is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's moist and flavorful, with a slightly crispy crust. The honey adds a touch of sweetness, while the brown butter gives it a rich and nutty flavor. This cornbread is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
