SHRIMP, BROCCOLI PASTA TOSS

I like to make pasta dishes with other ingredients rather than the usual tomato sauces.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cup(s) uncooked bow tie pasta`
1/2 cup(s) chopped shallots .
3 cup(s) garlic, minced
2 tablespoon(s) butter
1 tablespoon(s) olive oil
2 cup(s) fresh broccoli florets
1/2 cup(s) diced red peppers
8 ounce(s) raw medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup(s) grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions....
  • While the pasta is cooking,,add the oil and butter in a wok or large skillet, add the onions and garlic and saute for 3 to 5 minutes , add the broccoli and peppers and cook over medium heat til vegies are tender 5 minutes,,add shrimp and cook until the shrimp turns pink..do not overcook as the shrimp will be chewy.
  • Drain the pasta return to pot and toss with the shrimp mix..sprinkle with the cheese.

Tips:

  • Buy Large Shrimp: If the budget allows, purchase large shrimp for a more satisfying bite. Smaller shrimp tend to shrink more during cooking, resulting in a less substantial texture.
  • Properly Devein and Clean Shrimp: To ensure the shrimp are clean and free of any potential grit, devein them by making a shallow incision along the back and removing the dark vein. Rinse the shrimp thoroughly under cold water.
  • Don't Overcook the Shrimp: Shrimp cook quickly, so it's essential to avoid overcooking them. Overcooked shrimp become tough and rubbery. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  • Use Fresh, High-Quality Broccoli: For the best flavor and texture, use fresh broccoli florets. Avoid frozen broccoli, as it tends to become mushy when cooked.
  • Cook Pasta Al Dente: Cook the pasta according to the package instructions, but aim for an al dente texture. Al dente pasta has a slight bite to it and holds its shape well when tossed with the sauce.
  • Use a Large Pan for Sauce: When making the sauce, use a large pan to prevent overcrowding. Overcrowding can cause the shrimp and broccoli to steam rather than sauté, resulting in a less flavorful dish.

Conclusion:

Broccoli shrimp pasta toss is a quick and easy weeknight meal that is packed with flavor. The combination of tender shrimp, crisp broccoli, and creamy sauce makes this dish a hit with both kids and adults. By following these tips, you can create a delicious and satisfying broccoli shrimp pasta toss that will become a family favorite.
