Broccoli salad is a refreshing and versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a side dish or a light lunch or dinner. It is typically made with raw broccoli florets, but this recipe adds a twist by roasting the broccoli before adding it to the salad. Roasting the broccoli brings out its natural sweetness and gives it a slightly smoky flavor. The salad is then tossed with a tangy dressing made with mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. This recipe also includes optional additions such as bacon, cheese, and nuts, which can be added to taste. The article provides three variations of the broccoli salad recipe: a classic version, a bacon and cheese version, and a broccoli salad with dried cranberries and walnuts. Each variation offers a unique flavor profile, making this recipe a great option for anyone looking for a healthy and delicious salad.

This a variation of the traditional broccoli salad with craisins, bacon bits, sunflower seeds, red onion and poppy seed dressing. I came up with this in response to a healthy carry-in challenge where we were encouraged to bring something from a list of 10 ingredients. Cooking time is chill time.

6 cups broccoli florets, bite size pieces
