Time 50m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 (16 ounce) packages frozen chopped broccoli
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, low-sodium
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cup pecans, chopped
2 eggs, well beaten
1 medium onion, chopped
3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup buttered bread crumb

Steps:

  • Cook broccoli according to package directions; drain and add to a large bowl.
  • Add the soup, mayonnaise, and chopped pecans; mix well.
  • Add the beaten eggs and onion; stir to blend well.
  • Pour mixture into greased 1 1/2 or 2 quart casserole.
  • Sprinkle with the grated cheese and top with buttered bread crumbs.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Tips:

- Fresh broccoli florets deliver the best texture and flavor to the casserole. If using frozen broccoli, thaw it completely and drain off any excess water before adding it to the casserole. - Use a combination of cheeses to create a rich and flavorful cheese sauce. A blend of cheddar, Parmesan, and cream cheese works well, but you can experiment with different cheese combinations to find your favorite. - If you don't have unsalted butter on hand, you can use salted butter instead. Just be sure to omit the additional salt called for in the recipe. - Use a large baking dish to ensure that the casserole cooks evenly. A 9x13-inch baking dish is a good option. - Bake the casserole until it is golden brown and bubbly. This usually takes about 30 minutes. - Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help the cheese sauce to set and the casserole to hold its shape.

Conclusion:

This broccoli nut casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is cheesy, flavorful, and packed with broccoli and nuts. Whether you are serving it for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion, this casserole is sure to be a hit.
