Tips:

  • Choose the right bread: Stale or day-old bread works best for strata because it absorbs the egg mixture better and doesn't get soggy. You can use any type of bread you like, but a hearty bread like sourdough or French bread will give the strata a nice texture.
  • Don't overmix the egg mixture: Overmixing the egg mixture can make the strata tough. Just whisk the eggs, milk, and seasonings together until they are well combined.
  • Layer the strata evenly: When layering the strata, make sure to distribute the bread, ham, cheese, and broccoli evenly throughout the dish. This will ensure that every bite has a little bit of everything.
  • Bake the strata until it is golden brown: The strata is done baking when it is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Depending on your oven, this can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.
  • Let the strata rest before serving: Once the strata is done baking, let it rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the strata to set.

Conclusion:

Broccoli Ham and Cheese Strata is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's perfect for a crowd because it's easy to make ahead of time and can be reheated when you're ready to serve. With its combination of hearty bread, savory ham, gooey cheese, and fresh broccoli, this strata is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
