AWESOME BROCCOLI-CHEESE CASSEROLE

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole image

My mom used to make this easy recipe every Thanksgiving when I was little. We kids could never get enough! It was our very favorite Thanksgiving vegetable. If you have children, or have some coming to visit you as guests this Thanksgiving, I guarantee that they will eat (and enjoy) this veggie dish! Even though I rarely cook with canned condensed soups, I still make this yummy broccoli casserole during the holiday season. It's fabulous with a Christmas ham and potatoes au gratin too. Mmmmmmm!

¼ cup onions, chopped
3 (10 ounce) packages frozen chopped broccoli
8 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
salt and pepper to taste

  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together condensed soup, mayonnaise, egg and onions.
  • Place frozen broccoli into a very large mixing bowl. (I like to use my large stainless steel bowl to mix this recipe thoroughly.) Break up the frozen broccoli. Using a rubber spatula, scrape soup-mayonnaise mixture on top of broccoli, and mix well. Sprinkle on cheese, and mix well. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish, and smooth top of casserole. Season with salt, pepper and paprika.
  • Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Tips:

  • Choose the right broccoli: Look for broccoli with deep green, tightly closed florets. Avoid broccoli with yellow or wilted florets, as these are signs of age and poor quality.
  • Steam the broccoli: Steaming is the best way to cook broccoli for this casserole. It preserves the broccoli's bright green color and nutrients. You can steam broccoli in a steamer basket over boiling water, or you can use a microwave steamer.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is one of the most important ingredients in this casserole, so it's important to use a good quality cheese. I recommend using a sharp cheddar cheese, but you can also use a mild cheddar cheese or a combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done cooking when the cheese is melted and bubbly and the broccoli is tender but still has a slight crunch. Overcooking the casserole will make the broccoli mushy.
  • Serve the casserole immediately: This casserole is best served immediately after it's cooked. The broccoli will start to lose its鮮豔的綠色 color and鮮豔的綠色 nutrients the longer it sits.

Conclusion:

This broccoli casserole is a delicious and easy way to get your kids to eat their vegetables. It's packed with nutrients and flavor, and it's sure to be a hit at your next family meal. So next time you're looking for a healthy and kid-friendly dinner, give this broccoli casserole a try. You won't be disappointed!
