CRAB PIE RECIPE RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Crab Pie Recipe Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by á-46109

Number Of Ingredients 12

2- 9 ″ deep pie crusts (baked 3 minutes and cooled)
1 pound lump crab meat
4 eggs
2 tablespoon flour
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup whole milk
8 ounce shredded Swiss cheese
8 ounce shredded Cheddar cheese
2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon finely chopped green pepper
(Note: You can use backfin, it is fine. Lump is the most expensive and not necessary.)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF Bake your crust for 3 minutes. We used Pillsbury pie dough and it worked out great. We did spray the pie pans with Pam spray to keep the crust from sticking. Combine eggs, flour, mayonnaise and milk, mix well. Add cheese, 1 teaspoon Old Bay, onion and pepper and mix well. Fold in crab meat and try not to separate the lumps of crab meat too much. Pour into 2 separate pie crusts, sprinkle with additional Old Bay Seasoning. Bake at 350ºF for 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean. (Check at about 40 minutes to avoid burning, since ovens vary.)

  • Bake for about 20 minutes or until bubbly and brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let stand for 2 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Fresh is best: Use fresh crab meat for the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh crab meat, frozen crab meat will also work, but be sure to thaw it completely before using.
  • Don't overcook the crab: Crab meat is delicate and cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. Otherwise, it will become tough and rubbery.
  • Use a good quality puff pastry: The puff pastry is an important part of this dish, so be sure to use a good quality one. Look for a puff pastry that is light and flaky.
  • Chill the pie before baking: Chilling the pie before baking helps to prevent the filling from becoming too runny. This will also help the pastry to rise better.
  • Serve the pie warm: Breakfast crab pie is best served warm, so be sure to reheat it if you're making it ahead of time.

Conclusion:

Breakfast crab pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a special brunch or breakfast. With its flaky puff pastry crust and creamy crab filling, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a unique and flavorful breakfast dish, give breakfast crab pie a try. You won't be disappointed!
