Bread Machine Wheat Rolls with Yogurt & Oats Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Provided by Beckylynn

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 cup oats + 2 tablespoons, divided
1/2 cup very hot water
1 cup plain yogurt
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
6 teaspoons ground flaxseed
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour blend
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
1/4 cup heavy cream

Steps:

  • In your bread machine, combine 3/4 cup oats with the water. Let sit for 15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT the cream and extra 2 tablespoons of oats. Run machine on dough setting. When it's done, take out the dough and punch it down. Turn the dough out onto a Silpat baking sheet or a baking sheet lined with butter and cornmeal. Flatten dough into a circle about 2 inches thick and cut squares with a butter knife. These will be your rolls. Mold and shape the edges a little then make a shallow criss-cross cut on top of each one, brush with cream and sprinkle with the remaining oats. Pop the whole pan into the oven, covered by a clean towel, and let rise for one hour. The warmth of a bowl of hot water on the rack under your rolls will help the rising process. When the rolls have doubled in size, heat the oven to 375°F and bake for about 15 minutes, until golden on top. Then invite friends over immediately. *To make ahead, bake 12-13 minutes and freeze cooled rolls in a zip-top plastic bag. Pop them in a 375°F oven when you're ready to serve, about 2-3 minutes.

WHOLE WHEAT YOGURT HONEY DINNER ROLLS BREAD MACHINE

Whole Wheat Yogurt Honey Dinner Rolls Bread Machine image

The mixture of Yoghurt and Honey is delightful. Of all my bread recipes, this is the family favorite. Note: some folks think the rolls are a little sweet, some have suggested cutting the honey back by half.

WHEAT 'N YOGURT BREAD FOR BREAD MACHINE

Wheat 'n Yogurt Bread for Bread Machine image

This is my go-to recipe for my bread machine. I make a couple loaves every week. The recipe came in the booklet along with my machine...I wish I could find that booklet but luckily I wrote the recipe down. Since I'm messy with flour, I like to only measure these ingredients occasionally. I like to measure out all the dry ingredients, except the yeast, and store in a gallon-size baggie in the freezer. I make all at once about 6 baggies, so when I want to make a quick loaf before I go to bed, I just have to add the water, yogurt, my baggie of dry ingredients, the butter, and yeast. It's SO convenient.

Time 3h10m

Yield 1 loaf (2 lb), 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/8 cups water
2/3 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1 1/2 cups bread flour
2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons dry milk
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons butter (or margarine)
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (or 2 tsp Bread Machine yeast)

Steps:

  • Follow your breadmaker's instructions regarding how to add ingredients. My breadmaker requests me to do the following:.
  • Add liquids to the bread pan first, then dry. Level the dry; quarter the butter and add to corners. Make an impression in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast.
  • If bread collapses during the baking period, next time add 1 or 1 ½ tablespoons vital wheat gluten to the recipe to prevent from happening again.
  • I set my bread maker to 'whole wheat', 'light crust', '2 lb loaf'.

BREAD MACHINE WHOLE WHEAT ROLLS

Bread Machine Whole Wheat Rolls image

This easy recipe is from my Welbilt bread machine manual. The molasses and honey give the rolls a delicious, but not overly sweet taste. I usually cut this recipe in half but use the same amount of yeast. These rolls are always served for our Thanksgiving meal. Leftover (day old) rolls make perfect croutons or breadcrumbs.

Provided by COOKGIRl

Categories     Breads

Time 15m

Yield 12 rolls

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/4 cups water
2 tablespoons oil (read NOTE*)
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons molasses
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Place the ingredients into the bread baking pan as recommended by your bread machine's manual. Use the DOUGH cycle setting.
  • To hand shape the roll, once the dough cycle is complete remove the dough to a lightly floured cutting board. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape into balls. Place the rolls into greased muffin tins, brush lightly with melted butter or butter substitute. Cover with a piece of wax paper and a clean cloth and let rise in a warm place for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Bake the rolls at 375°F for 15-20 minutes.
  • Refrigerate leftovers.
  • *NOTE: Here's a trick to measure the honey and molasses easily. By measuring the oil first, the oil coats the measuring utensil. Then when you measure out the honey and molasses the two ingredients slide off easily into the bread machine pan.
