BREAD MACHINE BUTTERMILK AND HONEY WHEAT BREAD

Bread Machine Buttermilk and Honey Wheat Bread image

This is one of my favorites. The recipe came from Eagle Mills. If you don't have buttermilk, you can substitute 1 cup milk plus 1 teaspoon cider vinegar, and let it sit about 10 minutes before using. You can also add 4 tbs. buttermilk powder to the dry ingredients and substitute water for the buttermilk. I have also used plain all-purpose flour with excellent results.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Buttermilk bread is best made with fresh buttermilk, but if you don't have any on hand, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Measure your ingredients accurately: Bread machines are very sensitive to the amount of ingredients used, so it's important to measure them accurately. Use a kitchen scale if you have one, or be sure to level off your measuring cups with a knife.
  • Don't overfill the bread machine: The bread machine will need room to rise, so don't fill it more than 2/3 full. If you're using a 1-pound loaf pan, you can use up to 3 cups of flour. If you're using a 2-pound loaf pan, you can use up to 4 cups of flour.
  • Choose the right bread machine setting: Most bread machines have a setting for white bread, which is the best setting for buttermilk bread. If your bread machine doesn't have a white bread setting, you can use the basic bread setting.
  • Be patient: Bread takes time to rise and bake, so don't be tempted to open the bread machine during the process. This will cause the bread to fall.

Conclusion:

Buttermilk bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that's perfect for any occasion. With the help of a bread machine, you can have fresh, homemade buttermilk bread in no time. Just follow these tips and you'll be sure to have a perfect loaf of buttermilk bread every time.
