BREAD DIPPING OIL - GARLIC & HERBS

Bread Dipping Oil - Garlic & Herbs image

I'm not sure where my brother got this recipe, but it is packed full of flavor and worthy of restaurants. My brother uses freeze dried herbs in this recipe, but I would assume fresh herbs would be just as wonderful. This olive oil dip is perfect for any crusty type artisan bread. Hope you enjoy!

Time 15m

Yield 4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon parsley
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon rosemary
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
4 cups olive oil

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients (except oil) and mince with a food chopper. If you do not have a food chopper, mince together with a knife to make an herb mixture.
  • Use 1 teaspoon of herb mixture for every 1/2 cup of olive oil when serving.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality olive oil. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your dipping oil.
  • Fresh herbs are always best. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but be sure to use only 1/3 of the amount called for in the recipe.
  • Garlic is a must-have ingredient in any bread dipping oil. You can use fresh garlic, minced garlic, or garlic powder. If you're using fresh garlic, be sure to mince it very finely.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different herbs and spices. You can add a little bit of chili pepper flakes for a spicy kick, or a pinch of oregano for an Italian flavor.
  • Let your dipping oil sit for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve your dipping oil with a variety of breads. Some good options include baguette, focaccia, and pita bread.

Conclusion:

Bread dipping oil is a delicious and versatile appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give bread dipping oil a try.
