I purchased a bottle of Brazilian cachaca during the holidays, but I only had one cocktail recipe that included cachaca. So I started looking for other cachaca-based cocktail recipes. That's how I stumbled upon this Brazilian drink in "The Bartender's Guide", and I really liked it. It's fruity, sweet and quite refreshing.

Number Of Ingredients 6

4-5 ice cubes
1 1/2 oz cachaca liquor
3 1/2 oz orange juice
2 tsp lemon juice
3/4 oz grenadine
1 slice orange, for garnish (optional)

  • 1. Place ice cubes in a tall Highball or Collins glass. Add cachaca and both juices, and mix gently. Slowly add the grenadine.
  • 2. Place orange slice on rim of glass, and serve with a cocktail straw.

Tips:

  • To make the perfect caipirinha, use fresh limes and cachaça. Avoid using bottled lime juice or other substitutes.
  • When making the moqueca, be sure to use a large pot or Dutch oven. This dish is meant to be shared, so you'll need plenty of room to cook all of the ingredients.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with the ingredients in the feijoada. This dish is very versatile, so you can add or remove ingredients to suit your taste.
  • When cooking the churrasco, be sure to use a hot grill. This will help to sear the meat and give it a delicious flavor.
  • For the brigadeiro, use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to prevent the mixture from burning. Stir the mixture constantly until it reaches the desired consistency.

Conclusion:

These five Brazilian recipes are a great way to experience the vibrant flavors of this South American country. From the refreshing caipirinha to the hearty feijoada, there's something for everyone to enjoy. So next time you're looking for a new culinary adventure, be sure to give these recipes a try.
