Time 50m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lbs flank steaks
6 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 small hot pepper, such as jalapeno or 1/2 small serrano pepper, minced
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 (14 ounce) can hearts of palm, drained, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced
4 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup red onion, chopped
1/2 small hot chili peppers, such as jalapeno or 1/2 small serrano pepper, minced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat grill to high.
  • To prepare steak, combine garlic, hot pepper, oil and salt in a small bowl. Rub the mixture on both sides of steak.
  • To prepare salsa, combine hearts of palm, tomatoes, onion, hot pepper, cilantro, vinegar and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Reduce grill heat to medium and grill the steak 4 to 6 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  • Transfer to a cutting board, tent with foil and let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Cut the steak across the grain into thin pieces. Serve with the salsa.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality flank steak: Look for a flank steak that is at least 1 inch thick and has good marbling.
  • Marinate the steak for at least 30 minutes: This will help to tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavor.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: This will help to create a nice crust on the outside of the steak while keeping the inside juicy.
  • Let the steak rest before slicing: This will help to redistribute the juices throughout the steak, making it more tender and flavorful.
  • Serve the steak with your favorite sides: Some popular sides for grilled flank steak include rice, beans, vegetables, and chimichurri sauce.

Conclusion:

Grilled flank steak is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. By following these tips, you can make sure that your grilled flank steak turns out perfectly every time.
