Time 10m

Yield 4 cocktails

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (3 lemons)
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (4 limes)
2/3 cup sugar syrup (see below)
Maraschino cherries

Steps:

  • Combine the whiskey, lemon juice, lime juice and syrup. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice and fill two-thirds full with the cocktail mixture. Shake for 30 seconds and pour into glasses. Add a maraschino cherry and serve ice cold.
  • Sugar syrup: Put 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Chill thoroughly before using.

Tips:

  • Use chilled glasses and ingredients for a refreshing, ice-cold sour.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice provides the best flavor. If using bottled juice, choose an unsweetened variety.
  • Simple syrup helps to balance the sourness of the lemon juice and adds a touch of sweetness.
  • Bourbon is the traditional spirit for a whiskey sour, but you can also use rye whiskey or scotch.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist or cherry for a classic presentation.
  • For a sweeter sour, add an extra 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.
  • For a tarter sour, reduce the amount of simple syrup to 1/2 ounce.
  • If you don't have simple syrup, you can make your own by dissolving 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of boiling water. Allow to cool completely before using.

Conclusion:

Bourbon sours are a classic cocktail that can be enjoyed year-round. With their perfect balance of sweet, sour, and boozy, they're sure to please everyone at your next party or gathering. So next time you're looking for a refreshing and flavorful cocktail, give the bourbon sour a try.
