This spicy favorite for backyard parties and picnics can be doubled easily. Great for alongside hamburgers, hot dogs or anything from the grill. Cut from the newspaper in 1962.

3 slices bacon, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 (20 ounce) can pork and beans in tomato sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
2 tablespoons catsup
1 pinch chili powder

Steps:

  • Fry the bacon until halfway done.
  • Add the onion.
  • When the onion is slightly browned, pour off almost all of the grease (or all of it if you're watching fat content), Add pork and beans, sugar, vinegar and catsup.
  • Stir well, season with a pinch of chili powder.
  • Pour mixture into ceramic bean pot or covered dish.
  • Bake at 350 degrees one hour or until mixture is cooked down so that it's not too runny. You can also cook this mixture slowly on the stove, careful to stir occasionally so the beans won't burn. They'll cook down.

3 slices bacon
1 small onion
1 (15 ounce) can pork and beans
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup

Steps:

  • Dice bacon and onion.
  • Fry bacon; when nearly done, add onion to pan and saute until bacon is cooked; pour off most of the fat.
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan; cover and simmer, stirring every once in awhile, on low heat for 1 to 2 hours ~ The beans will thicken as they cook.

1 can(s) pork and beans
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 c catsup
1/4 c brown sugar or splenda
1-2 Tbsp chili powder
2-3 slice bacon, fried crisp and crumbled

  • 1. Fry bacon till crisp, remove from pan and crumble.
  • 2. Add onion and fry till slightly browned
  • 3. Add pork and beans and other ingredients. Cook till somewhat thickened.

  • 1. dice 3 strips of bacon and fry until half done. add chopped onions,brown all this.pour off grease. add; 1 (16 oz.) can of pork'n beans.add; 1 tablespoon brown sugar,1 tablespoon vinegar and 2 tablespoons catsup.

1 medium chopped onion
2 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans in tomato sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
