APPLE BRAID RECIPE - (4.4/5)

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Make the Apple Filling: Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin slices, then cut the slices in half. Toss the apple pieces with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Bake the apple filling in an 8-inch square baking pan (or 9-inch pie tin) for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside. (Note: Do not turn the oven off at this point. You will be using it to bake the finished braid.) Make the Bread: While the apple filling is baking, begin preparing the bread dough. Mix the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Add the water and oil and mix the dough for 6 minutes using an electric mixer on medium-high speed. Spray a smooth clean surface with cooking spray and turn the dough out onto the surface. Knead the dough briefly to give it a smooth surface (this will only take several turns of the dough to accomplish). Spray a rolling pin with cooking spray and roll the dough out into a large rectangle, about 12-inches by 16-inches in size. Lift onto a greased baking sheet. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each side into strips about 1-inch wide down each side, leaving the center third of the dough uncut. Spread the apple filling down the middle third of the dough. Fold strips of dough into the center, crisscrossing the filling by alternating strips from each side. Lightly press ends to seal, and straighten out the braid with your hands, if necessary, to straighten. Bake the braid in the oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the braid cool for several minutes. Make the Glaze: Whisk together the glaze ingredients in a small bowl until blended and smooth. Brush the glaze in a thick coat over the entire surface of the apple braid while it is still cooling. Carefully transfer the braid to a cooling rack set on a baking sheet (to catch drips) to finish cooling and prevent the bottom of the braid from becoming soggy from sitting in any pooling glaze. Slice and serve.

APPLE DANISH BRAID
Easy enough, with the use of crescent roll dough. There is also a product called recipe creations, which doesn't have the scoring in the crescent rolls; that would make this even simpler. Taken from razzledazzlerecipes.com and posted for ZWT.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a bowl, combine cream cheese and powdered sugar until well blended. Add egg mixing until smooth.
- Unroll 1 pkg. of crescent dough; do not separate.
- Arrange longest sides of dough across width of 12" x 15" baking pan. Repeat with remaining pkg. of dough. Work dough to seal perforations. (or use recipe creations, which isn't scored).
- On longest side of baking pan, cut dough into strips 1-1/2 inches apart, 3 inches deep using pizza cutter (there will be 6 inches in the center for the filling).
- Spread half of cream cheese mixture evenly over middle of dough.
- Cut apple slices crosswise in half; evenly arrange apple slices over cream cheese mixture.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
- Scoop remaining cream cheese mixture over apples; sprinkle with pecans. To braid: lift strips of dough across mixture to meet in center, twisting each strip one turn.
- Continue alternating strips to form a braid.
- Tuck ends under to seal at end of braid.
- Bake 25-28 minutes or until deep golden brown.
- Remove from oven; brush with syrup using pastry brush. Cut & serve.
Tips:
- Choose firm, tart apples for this recipe, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
- If you don't have a pastry brush, you can use a spoon to brush the egg wash onto the braid.
- Be careful not to overwork the dough, or it will become tough.
- If the dough is too sticky to work with, chill it for 30 minutes before rolling it out.
- To make the braid, divide the dough into three equal parts. Roll each part out into a long, thin rope. Pinch the three ropes together at one end and braid them, tucking the ends under at the bottom.
- Before baking, brush the braid with egg wash and sprinkle it with sugar.
- Bake the braid for 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Serve the braid warm or at room temperature.
Conclusion:
This blushing apple braid is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for fall gatherings.
