Tips:

  • Mise en Place: As with any baking recipe, it's important to measure and prepare all of your ingredients before you start mixing. This will help ensure that everything comes together smoothly and efficiently.
  • Use Fresh Blueberries: Fresh blueberries will give your scones the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh blueberries, frozen blueberries will also work, but be sure to thaw them before using.
  • Don't Overwork the Dough: Overworking the dough will make the scones tough. Be gentle when mixing the ingredients and don't over-knead the dough.
  • Chill the Dough Before Baking: Chilling the dough before baking will help the scones rise evenly and prevent them from spreading too much. You can chill the dough for up to 2 hours before baking.
  • Bake the Scones Until Golden Brown: The scones are done baking when they are golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:

These blueberry orange scones are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack. They're bursting with fresh blueberry flavor and have a lovely citrusy aroma from the orange zest. Plus, they're incredibly moist and tender, thanks to the buttermilk and sour cream.
