1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice or use water
Pinch fine sea salt
3/4 cup (100 grams) all-purpose flour
3/4 cup (65 grams) old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar, try combining 1/4 cup brown sugar + 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Tips:

  • Choose the right fruit: Any fruit can be used for a crumble, but some fruits work better than others. Soft fruits like berries and peaches are ideal, as they release their juices during cooking and create a delicious sauce. Firmer fruits like apples and pears can also be used, but they should be peeled and sliced before cooking.
  • Use fresh or frozen fruit: Fresh fruit is always best, but frozen fruit can also be used. If using frozen fruit, thaw it completely before using.
  • Make a flavorful crumble topping: The crumble topping is what makes this dessert so special. Be sure to use a combination of flour, sugar, butter, and spices. You can also add nuts, oats, or chocolate chips for extra flavor.
  • Don't overcook the crumble: The crumble should be cooked until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling. Overcooking will make the crumble dry and tough.
  • Serve the crumble warm or cold: Blueberry crumble can be served warm or cold. If serving warm, let it cool for a few minutes before serving so that the filling has a chance to set. If serving cold, chill the crumble for at least 2 hours before serving.

Conclusion:

Blueberry crumble is a classic dessert that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With its sweet and tangy filling and crunchy crumble topping, it's the perfect way to end a meal. The tips above will help you make the best blueberry crumble possible. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy dessert, give this recipe a try.
