BLUEBERRY BBQ SAUCE

Number Of Ingredients 12

Blueberry Barbecue Sauce:
2 pint(s) blueberries
2/3 cup(s) honey
1/2 cup(s) ketchup
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
1/2 cup(s) chopped shallots
1 tablespoon(s) grated fresh ginger
2 teaspoon(s) fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
Pork:
2 (1 pound each) pork tenderloins
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Directions To make sauce: Combine ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; reduce heat and simmer until thickened, about 45 minutes. Divide sauce between 2 bowls. Set aside. To make meat: Preheat grill to medium. Season pork with salt and pepper. Sear, turning to cook all sides, 10 to 15 minutes. Brush with half the barbecue sauce, turning frequently, until pork is thoroughly glazed, about 10 minutes more (a meat thermometer should read about 150 degrees). Set aside and let rest 5 minutes. Carve crosswise; serve with remaining barbecue sauce.

Tips:

  • Use fresh blueberries: Fresh blueberries add a vibrant flavor and color to the sauce. If using frozen blueberries, thaw them completely before using.
  • Don't overcook the blueberries: Overcooking the blueberries will make them mushy and lose their flavor. Simmer the sauce just until the blueberries have softened and burst.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking: The amount of sugar in the sauce can be adjusted to your liking. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add more sugar. If you prefer a less sweet sauce, reduce the amount of sugar.
  • Use a good quality BBQ sauce: The BBQ sauce you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the final sauce. Choose a BBQ sauce that you enjoy the flavor of.
  • Let the sauce cool slightly before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Conclusion:

Blueberry BBQ sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on chicken, pork, beef, or fish. It is also great as a dipping sauce for appetizers or as a glaze for roasted vegetables. With its sweet and tangy flavor, blueberry BBQ sauce is sure to be a hit at your next cookout or party.
