Tips:

  • Soak the blue corn overnight or for at least 8 hours to soften it. This will make it easier to blend and will also help to release its nutrients.
  • If you don't have time to soak the corn overnight, you can quick-soak it by boiling it for 15 minutes, then letting it cool. This should be done, as it can affect flavor, texture and nutritional content.
  • Be sure to rinse the corn well before using it, to remove any dirt or debris.
  • If you don't have a blender, you can mash the corn by hand using a potato masher or a fork. This will take a little more time, but it will still produce a smooth atole.
  • You can use any type of milk you like in this recipe. Whole milk will produce a richer atole, while skim milk will produce a lighter one. You can also use almond milk or soy milk if you prefer.
  • Sweeten the atole to your taste. You can use sugar, honey, or maple syrup.
  • Add spices to the atole for extra flavor. Common spices used in atole include cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  • Serve the atole hot or cold. It can be enjoyed as a breakfast cereal, a snack, or a dessert.

Conclusion:

Atole is a delicious and nutritious drink that is easy to make. It is a great way to use up leftover corn, and it is also a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. With a little creativity, you can easily customize this recipe to suit your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a warm and comforting drink, give blue corn atole a try!
