CREAMY MACARONI AND CHEESE

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese image

There are two schools of thought about macaroni and cheese: Some like it crusty and extra-cheesy (here's our recipe), while others prefer it smooth and creamy. But most people are delighted by any homemade macaroni and cheese. It is light years ahead of the boxed versions. This creamy version has one powerful advantage for the cook: There's no need to preboil the pasta. It cooks in the oven, absorbing the liquid from the dairy products.

Tips:

  • Use Your Blender Wisely: To ensure a smooth and creamy macaroni and cheese sauce, blend it in a blender until it reaches your desired consistency. A high-powered blender will give you the best results.
  • Cook Macaroni Perfectly: When cooking the macaroni, follow the package instructions for al dente or slightly undercooked pasta. This will prevent it from becoming mushy when combined with the sauce.
  • Use Quality Cheese: Opt for high-quality cheese that melts well, such as cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyère. Freshly grated cheese gives the best flavor and texture.
  • Add-Ins and Seasonings: Feel free to customize your macaroni and cheese with various add-ins like cooked bacon, diced vegetables, or herbs. Experiment with different seasonings to enhance the flavor.
  • Don't Overpack the Blender: When blending the sauce, work in batches if necessary to prevent overcrowding the blender. This ensures proper blending and a smooth consistency.

Conclusion:

Homemade macaroni and cheese with a creamy and flavorful sauce made in a blender is a delightful dish that offers convenience and customization. By following the tips and tricks mentioned above, you can create a macaroni and cheese that suits your taste preferences and dietary needs.
