There's a TON of berries in them, so don't be put off if the dough doesn't come together perfectly like sugar cookie dough. It's going to be a messy and a little imperfect and that's perfectly okay. Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe blackberries. This will ensure the best flavor and texture in your scones.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will result in tough, dense scones. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use cold butter. Cold butter will help create flaky layers in your scones.
  • Don't overwork the butter. Overworking the butter will also result in tough scones.
  • Chill the dough before baking. Chilling the dough will help the scones hold their shape and rise properly.
  • Bake the scones in a hot oven. This will help the scones rise quickly and evenly.
  • Don't overbake the scones. Overbaking will result in dry, crumbly scones.
  • Serve the scones warm, with your favorite toppings. Scones are best enjoyed fresh from the oven, with butter, jam, or cream.

Conclusion:

Blackberry scones are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a batch of scones that are sure to impress your family and friends.
