Tips:

  • To ensure the beef is tender and juicy, choose a high-quality cut of meat, such as a chuck roast or a top round roast.
  • Marinate the beef for at least 4 hours, or overnight, in a mixture of red wine, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic, and herbs.
  • Brown the beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat before adding the remaining ingredients.
  • Use a good quality red wine for the braising liquid. A full-bodied red wine, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Merlot, will add a rich flavor to the beef.

  • Simmer the beef for at least 2 hours, or until it is fall-apart tender.
  • Serve the beef with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice.
