Number Of Ingredients 16

2 tablespoons canola oil
2 pounds bison meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 cup minced yellow onion
½ cup minced celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons flour
4 cups low-sodium chicken broth

3 whole cloves
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
¼ teaspoon ground thyme

Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to coat. Stir in the broth, water, wine, salt, pepper, cloves, tomato sauce, parsley, and thyme to the mixture; bring to a boil. Tips:

  • Mise en Place: As with any cooking, having all of your ingredients and equipment ready before you start cooking will make the process much smoother and enjoyable. This is especially important for a strata recipe, as there are a lot of different ingredients that need to be cooked and assembled.
  • Use High-Quality Ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your strata will taste. Look for fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible.
  • Don't Overcook the Bison Sausage: Bison sausage is a lean meat, so it's important not to overcook it. Otherwise, it will become tough and dry. Cook it over medium heat until it is just cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  • Use a Variety of Apples: Using a variety of apples will give your strata a more complex flavor. For example, you could use a combination of Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples.
  • Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing the batter will make the strata tough. Stir just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the Strata Until It Is Golden Brown: The strata is done baking when it is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:

Bison sausage apple and sage strata is a delicious and hearty breakfast or brunch dish. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own tastes. With its combination of savory sausage, sweet apples, and aromatic sage, this strata is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
