Tips:

  • Use fresh, quality ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the biscuits and beans will taste. Look for high-quality beans, such as black beans, pinto beans, or kidney beans. Use all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to make the biscuits.
  • Soak the beans overnight: Soaking the beans overnight will help to soften them and reduce the cooking time. If you don't have time to soak the beans overnight, you can quick-soak them by boiling them for 1 minute, then removing them from the heat and letting them soak for 1 hour.
  • Season the beans well: Beans can be bland, so it's important to season them well. Use a variety of spices, such as cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder. You can also add fresh herbs, such as cilantro or parsley.
  • Cook the biscuits and beans separately: Biscuits and beans are cooked at different temperatures, so it's best to cook them separately. Bake the biscuits in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Simmer the beans in a pot with water or broth for 30-45 minutes, or until they are tender.
