RETRO BING BARS

Retro Bing Bars image

This is a homemade version of the Twin Bing® candy bars from the 60s. They are rich and sweet and a small piece is a nice treat. These really are like candy, so cut in small pieces. A 1-inch square is sufficient! Store in a cool place in an airtight container, separating layers with waxed paper.

Tips for Making Perfect Bing Bars:

  • Use fresh ingredients. Bing cherries are available in season from June to August. If you can't find fresh cherries, you can use frozen or canned cherries, but fresh cherries will give you the best flavor.
  • Pit the cherries. You can use a cherry pitter or a knife to remove the pits from the cherries. Be sure to remove all of the pits, as they can be choking hazards.
  • Don't overcook the cherries. The cherries should be cooked until they are softened but still hold their shape. If you overcook them, they will become mushy.
  • Use a good quality chocolate. The chocolate is one of the main ingredients in Bing bars, so it's important to use a good quality chocolate. You can use dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate, depending on your preference.
  • Chill the Bing bars before serving. This will help them to set up properly and will make them easier to cut.

Conclusion:

Bing bars are a delicious and refreshing treat that are perfect for any occasion. They're easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give Bing bars a try!
