Time 30m

Yield 13 BIG cookies, 13 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 (8 ounce) package dark chocolate, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt into a medium bowl and set aside.
  • Place the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer; cream together on medium speed until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Beat in the vanilla and eggs. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and continue to mix until a smooth batter forms. Turn off the mixer and fold in the chocolate chunks using the spatula.
  • To form the cookies, scoop about 1/4 cup of cookie dough into your hands and roll it around into a ball; place them about 3-inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets; you should get about 4 cookies on each pan. Press down the tops of the dough slightly and bake until the cookies are light brown, 12 minutes for chewy cookies, or about 15 minutes for crispy cookies.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips: The better the chocolate chips, the better the cookies will be. Look for chocolate chips that contain at least 60% cacao.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the cookies tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough: Chilling the dough before baking helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies at a high temperature: Baking the cookies at a high temperature helps them to rise and brown quickly, resulting in a chewy cookie with a crispy edge.
  • Don't overbake the cookies: Overbaking the cookies will make them dry and crumbly. Bake the cookies just until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.

Conclusion:

These big, thick chocolate chip cookies are the perfect treat for any occasion. They're chewy, gooey, and loaded with chocolate chips. Plus, they're easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're in the mood for a sweet snack, give these cookies a try. You won't be disappointed!
