Time 4h32m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 lemons, juiced
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup steak sauce (recommended: A-1)
2 whole chickens, 3 pounds each, butterflied
1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Whisk together the lemon juice, Worcestershire and steak sauce in a small bowl. Place the chickens in a large baking dish and rub with the butter then pour the lemon mixture over. Cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours and up to 4 hours.
  • Preheat the grill to medium.
  • Season the chickens liberally with salt and pepper and place on the grill, skin side down. Grill until golden brown and slightly charred, 10 to 12 minutes. Turn over, close the cover and continue grilling until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thigh registers 165 degrees F. Remove, tent with foil and let rest 10 minutes before carving.

Tips:

  • To ensure the chicken is cooked evenly, use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature has reached 165°F (74°C).
  • For a crispier skin, pat the chicken dry before baking.
  • If you don't have a grill, you can still make this recipe by baking the chicken in the oven at 425°F (220°C) for 25-30 minutes per side.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of spices in the BBQ sauce to suit your taste.
  • Serve the chicken with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or baked beans.

Conclusion:

Big Daddy's Baked BBQ Chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make recipe that's perfect for a backyard cookout or a family dinner. The chicken is marinated in a flavorful BBQ sauce and then baked until it's fall-off-the-bone tender. Serve it with your favorite sides for a meal that everyone will love.
