Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all your ingredients and tools ready. This will help you stay organized and prevent any scrambling.
  • Measure Accurately: Baking is a science, so it's important to measure your ingredients accurately. Use measuring cups and spoons that are specifically designed for cooking, and level off dry ingredients with a knife.
  • Follow the Recipe: Unless you're an experienced baker, it's best to follow the recipe closely the first time you make it. Once you're more familiar with the recipe, you can start to make substitutions and adjustments.
  • Don't Overmix: Overmixing can make your baked goods tough. Mix your ingredients just until they are combined, and avoid over-beating eggs or egg whites.
  • Bake at the Right Temperature: Make sure your oven is preheated to the correct temperature before you start baking. This will help ensure that your baked goods cook evenly.
  • Let Baked Goods Cool Completely: Before you frost or decorate your baked goods, let them cool completely. This will help prevent the frosting from melting or becoming runny.
