1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

⅔ cup butter flavored shortening
⅔ cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
