BEST SPINACH PIE
Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F 2. Steam the spinach, squeeze to drain well and roughly chop. 3. In a large bowl, mix the onion, beaten eggs, both types of cheese, pepper & nutmeg, and mix the cooked spinach. 4. Transfer mixture to one pie dish. Roll remaining mixture in sections of other pie shell. 5. Bake in preheated oven for 25â30 minutes.
Tips:
- Use fresh spinach. Fresh spinach has a milder flavor and is more tender than frozen spinach.
- Wilt the spinach before using it. Wilting the spinach helps to remove excess moisture and makes it easier to work with.
- Use a good quality feta cheese. Feta cheese is the key ingredient in spanakopita, so it's important to use a good quality cheese that has a strong flavor.
- Don't overfill the phyllo dough. Overfilling the phyllo dough will make it difficult to fold and will result in a soggy spanakopita.
- Bake the spanakopita until it is golden brown. The spanakopita should be baked until the phyllo dough is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
Conclusion:
Spanakopita is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer, main course, or side dish. It is a great way to use up leftover spinach and feta cheese, and it is also a good source of protein and fiber. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make a delicious spanakopita at home.
