Number Of Ingredients 12

4 very ripe bananas, divided
1 cup white sugar
¾ cup butter, melted and cooled
2 large eggs
⅓ cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts
2 teaspoons white sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

EASY SOUR CREAM BANANA BREAD

Easy Sour Cream Banana Bread image

This recipe ALWAYS comes through! Everyone always loves it and when I give the bread as a gift, I'm always asked for the recipe! It's easy to make, doubles well AND freezes well! The *secret* to a super moist and flavorful bread is to use the sour cream (generous portions) AND to use very ripe (we're talking black on the outside and super soft and aromatic on the inside) bananas! I make the bread as loaves, large muffins and mini-muffins and each turns out perfectly yummy! Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and moister your bread will be. Look for bananas that are yellow with brown spots.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter and more tender bread.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Fold in the dry ingredients gradually: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough bread. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the bread at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50-60 minutes: A toothpick inserted into the center of the bread should come out clean when it's done.
  • Let the bread cool completely before glazing it: This will help to prevent the glaze from running off the bread.

Conclusion:

Sour cream banana bread is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With its moist texture, sweet banana flavor, and creamy sour cream glaze, this bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
