Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 large tomatoes, cored
1 small sweet onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
4 leaves chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
freshly ground black pepper to taste

Tips:

  • Use high-quality tomatoes: The quality of your tomatoes will greatly impact the flavor of your sauce. Look for ripe, flavorful tomatoes that are free of blemishes.
  • Roast your tomatoes before using them: Roasting tomatoes intensifies their flavor and gives them a slightly smoky taste. This is a great way to add depth of flavor to your sauce.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as basil, oregano, and thyme, will add a lot of flavor to your sauce. Be sure to use them sparingly, as they can easily overpower the other ingredients.
  • Don't overcook your sauce: Pizza sauce should be simmered for a short time, just long enough to allow the flavors to meld together. Overcooking the sauce will make it bland and watery.
  • Taste your sauce as you go: Be sure to taste your sauce as you're making it and adjust the seasonings accordingly. You may need to add more salt, pepper, or herbs to taste.

Conclusion:

Making homemade pizza sauce is a great way to add flavor and personality to your pizzas. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious sauce that will be sure to impress your family and friends.
