Time 25m

Yield 15-25 bars, 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup melted butter or 1/4 cup margarine
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup Rice Krispies
1 cup toasted slivered almonds
3/4 cup shelled sunflower seeds
1 cup mini chocolate chip

Steps:

  • You seriously can switch it up however you like. for chewier bars, use 3 cups oats and no rice krispies. I usually throw in a little vanilla, peanut butter, sesame seeds, any other chopped nuts, a couple tablespoons of brown sugar, a sprinkle of cinnamon, maybe some coconut or raisins.
  • mix all together.
  • grease a small cookie sheet and flatten down (if the pan is too large, just use half of it, the bars won't spread).
  • Press down firmly.
  • Bake on 325 degrees for about 20 minutes (just browned around the edges). Bake longer if you prefer crispier bars.

Time 35m

Yield 30-35 bars, 30-35 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 cup mixed nuts (chopped, I use walnuts and almonds)
3/4 cup craisins
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 -2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup honey
4 -5 tablespoons honey (drizzle on top)
1/2 cup oil
1 egg

Steps:

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees and cover a 13x9in. glass pan with non-stick spray
  • mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • mix all wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
  • after they are both thoroughly mixed add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
  • pour into the glass pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • let cool for about 2-3 minutes.
  • the mixture will still be very hot, but drizzle honey all over the mix (this keeps
  • them very moist).
  • let cool for another 5 minutes and cut the bars with caution and awareness that the pan will still be a little hot.
  • eat to your hearts content!

Tips:

  • Use a variety of oats. Both old-fashioned and quick-cooking oats can be used in granola bars, but a combination of the two will give you the best results. Old-fashioned oats will provide a chewy texture, while quick-cooking oats will help the bars bind together.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins. Granola bars are a great way to use up leftover ingredients, such as nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and chocolate chips. Feel free to experiment with different combinations to find your favorite flavor profile.
  • Don't over-bake the bars. Granola bars are best when they are slightly chewy, so be careful not to over-bake them. The bars are done baking when they are golden brown around the edges and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Store the bars properly. Granola bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

Granola bars are a delicious and portable snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are also a great way to use up leftover ingredients and get your daily dose of whole grains, nuts, and seeds. With so many different recipes to choose from, there is sure to be a granola bar that everyone will love.
