I played around with basic white bread recipes quite a bit and finally have come up with the perfect soft, fluffy, white bread with air pockets. Maybe a little too soft to slice right away. But if you let it cool a bit, it shouldn't be a problem. Toasted with a little butter and jam, it is a slice of heaven!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup warm water (105 to115 degrees F/40 to 45 degrees C)
4 teaspoons honey
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons olive oil
½ teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Pour warm water into the pan of bread machine and stir honey into warm water until dissolved. Add yeast to the mixture and let stand until yeast begins to foam, about 10 minutes. Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the bread pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Select soft setting if machine has that option; otherwise select regular setting and start the machine. Let finished bread cool before slicing.

1 1/3 cups warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons instant dry yeast
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon onion powder (optional)
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour

Steps:

  • Add ingredients in order to the bread machine pan. Choose the dough setting on your machine and press start. Allow the machine to knead, mix and rise your dough. When the entire cycle is finished remove the dough and form into loaf (loaves) or place in desired pan. Preheat oven to 375 Cover the dough and put in a warm place to rise for 20 more minutes. 3 tablespoons sugar plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar
2-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1 tablespoon salt
6-1/4 to 6-3/4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons canola oil

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in warm water; let stand until bubbles form on surface. Whisk together remaining 3 tablespoons sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Stir oil into yeast mixture; pour into flour mixture and beat until smooth.
