BEST EVER ONION RINGS

These onion rings are nice and crispy and have just a hint of sweetness to them. I love salty and sweet togather. I didnt give any measurements .Just several bowls of stuff, an assembly line for onion rings. Sounds like alot of work but it is well worth it in the end.

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 yellow or white onions cut in thick pieces
1 bowl of water to soak sliced onions
1 bowl of all purpose flour
1 bowl of melted vanilla ice cream
1 bowl of cormeal/corn flour half and half mixture

Steps:

  • 1. make your assembly line in the order i listed them
  • 2. after slicing onions place them in water
  • 3. shake off excess water and coat with flour
  • 4. shake off excess flour and place in melted ice cream
  • 5. then coat the onion with cornmeal mixture
  • 6. lay them out 20 min to dry
  • 7. fry in oil around 350 degrees for about 4-5 min or until golden brown.

Tips:

  • Choose the right onions: Use yellow or white onions for the best results. They have a mild flavor that will allow the coatings to shine through.
  • Slice the onions evenly: This will help them cook evenly. Use a sharp knife and slice the onions about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Soak the onion rings in milk: This helps to remove the sharp flavor of the onions and makes them more tender.
  • Use a light hand when breading the onion rings: Too much breading will make them greasy and heavy. Just a thin coating is all you need.
  • Fry the onion rings in hot oil: This will help them to cook quickly and evenly. Use a deep fryer or a large saucepan filled with oil.
  • Drain the onion rings on paper towels: This will help to remove any excess oil.
  • Serve the onion rings hot and crispy: They are best when eaten fresh out of the fryer.

Conclusion:

Onion rings are a classic American comfort food that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or a simple weeknight meal. With a little planning and effort, you can make onion rings that are crispy, flavorful, and addictive. So next time you are looking for a delicious and satisfying snack, give these onion rings a try. You won't be disappointed!
