BLT WRAPS
My mom and I used to make these easy wrap-ups for summer days at the lake with our entire family. These days, we love to bring them to picnics and days in the park. -Jonnah Burks, Brighton, Missouri

CALIFORNIA BLTS
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Place a baking wire rack on a sheet pan and arrange the bacon on the rack in a single layer. Bake for 15 to 25 minutes, until the bacon is browned and crisp. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
- Place the bread slices on a sheet pan and toast them for 5 minutes. Turn the slices and toast for 1 more minute, until all the bread is evenly browned. Place 2 slices on a cutting board. Spread each slice with about 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Cover the slices with a layer of lettuce. Peel the avocado and slice it 1/2-inch thick. Toss the avocado slices gently with the lemon juice, and arrange on top of the lettuce leaves. Place 3 slices of bacon on top of each sandwich and then add a layer of tomato slices on top of the bacon. Sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper.
- Spread each of the remaining 2 slices of toasted bread with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and place, mayonnaise side down, on the sandwiches. Cut in half and serve.
BLT WRAPS
I love wraps, but am allergic to mayonnaise, so I designed this wrap to be glued together with melted cheese instead.

BLT
The basic classic: bacon, lettuce, and tomato -- nothing fancy, just delicious. (I personally use fake vegetarian bacon these days, and it's still really good!)

BLT WRAPS
We will whip these up sometimes just for a bit of a change in the traditional. Sometimes I will make the BLT mix up before leaving for the ballpark so that when we get home all we have to do is throw them together and EAT!! Prep time includes frying bacon.

Steps:
- Place bacon, lettuce and tomato in large bowl, add enough mayo or Miracle Whip to"wet" all ingredients together.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Place a"generous" portion of BLT mixture onto tortilla, as if you were making a burrito.
- Wrap and Roll-- your ready to go!
- NOTE: Sometimes the kids will request shredded cheese in their mixture so I just divide into two mixes, one with shredded cheese, one without (I am not one to fool with a classic like a BLT by putting cheese on it).

Steps:
- 1. Spread 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of mayonnaise onto each wrap.
- 2. Top each with 1 lettuce leaf, 2 slices of tomato, and 3 slices of bacon.
- 3. Fold in the ends of each wrap and roll up tightly.
- 4. Wrap in parchment or wax paper and cut on the diagonal. Place in a sandwich bag or sandwich container.
Tips:
- Select Quality Ingredients: Choose fresh, ripe tomatoes, crispy lettuce, and thick-cut bacon for the best flavor.
- Cook Bacon Perfectly: Cook bacon until crispy, but not burnt. This will ensure a smoky, savory flavor.
- Use a Variety of Lettuce: For a more interesting texture and flavor, use a mix of different lettuce varieties, such as romaine, butterhead, and red leaf.
- Spread Mayo Evenly: Spread mayonnaise evenly on the tortilla to prevent it from becoming soggy.
- Wrap Tightly: Wrap the tortilla tightly to keep all the ingredients in place.
- Serve Immediately: BLT wraps are best served immediately after they are made, while the tortilla is still crispy and the bacon is warm.
