When we made this relish, here's what we discovered: Test Kitchen Discoveries Add an orange--peel and all--for a deep citrus flavor and a mild bitterness to temper the relish's sweetness. Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries for the best flavor and texture. Frozen cranberries can be used in a pinch, but they will not be as tart or flavorful.
  • Be sure to wash the oranges thoroughly before zesting and juicing them. This will remove any pesticides or wax that may be on the fruit.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can chop the cranberries and oranges by hand. However, this will take longer and the relish may not be as smooth.
  • Taste the relish before serving and adjust the sweetness and tartness to your liking. You can add more sugar or orange juice if it is too tart, or more cranberries if it is too sweet.
  • Serve the relish immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Conclusion:

Cranberry orange relish is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It is perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, but it can also be used to add flavor to sandwiches, salads, and even desserts. With its bright and tangy flavor, cranberry orange relish is a surefire way to add a little something extra to your next meal.
