DECORATOR BUTTERCREAM ICING
I always use this when I decorate cakes and I get many, many compliments on the wonderful taste. It is not that usual shortening-and-sugar-bakery-icing taste. If I am not using it to decorate a cake with, I use my all butter variation: Recipe #261024.

Steps:
- Cream butter and shortening then add vanilla.
- Add sugar a cup at a time beating on medium speed.
- Add milk 1 Tbls. at a time and beat on high until completely blended.
- TIP: To cut the sweetness I usually sprinkle some salt in the vanilla (so it will dissolve) before proceeding with recipe as instructed.
Tips:
- Use the right butter. Unsalted butter is essential for making buttercream frosting, as salted butter can make the frosting too salty. Use high-quality butter with a fat content of at least 80% for the best results.
- Bring your butter and cream cheese to room temperature. This will make them easier to mix together and will help to create a smooth frosting. If you don't have time to bring them to room temperature, you can microwave them for a few seconds, but be careful not to melt them.
- Use a stand mixer or hand mixer. A stand mixer is the best way to make buttercream frosting, but you can also use a hand mixer. If you're using a hand mixer, be sure to use a large bowl so that the frosting doesn't splatter everywhere.
- Start with a low speed and gradually increase it. This will help to prevent the frosting from curdling. Once the frosting is light and fluffy, you can stop mixing.
- Add your flavorings and mix until well combined. You can use any flavoring you like, such as vanilla extract, chocolate syrup, or fruit preserves. Be careful not to overmix the frosting, or it will become stiff and grainy.
- Use buttercream frosting immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you're storing the frosting in the refrigerator, be sure to bring it to room temperature before using it.
Conclusion:
Buttercream frosting is a delicious and versatile frosting that can be used to decorate cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect buttercream frosting every time. So what are you waiting for? Get baking!
