4 -6 pork chops
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 onion, sliced
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can sauerkraut
1 tablespoon oil

Steps:

  • Heat oil in large fry pan.
  • Brown pork chops.
  • Remove from pan.
  • Sauté onion until tender.
  • Add sugar and work up all browned stuff in pan.
  • Add sauerkraut and mix well.
  • Put chops on top and cover.

1 pound sauerkraut (1 can), drained
1 onion, sliced thin
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
8 bratwurst sausages
12 small red-skinned potatoes

Steps:

  • Simmer the sauerkraut for 10 minutes in boiling salted water. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet, soften the onions in the butter, browning lightly. Add the sauerkraut, wine, stock, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, turn down, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, simmer the bratwurst in water to cover for 20 minutes.

1 -2 can sauerkraut, well drained
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic, sliced
1 can beer or 1 bottle beer
salt

  • Render fat in hot skillet and brown pork chops on both sides with sliced garlic (about 5 to 7 minutes a side).
