Time 55m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup strained Cranberry Concord Syrup, recipe follows
One 1-liter bottle chilled sparkling water
1 pound frozen cranberries
1 1/4 cups concord grape jam
3/4 cup concord grape juice
1/3 cup sugar
One 3-inch strip orange zest

Steps:

  • Add some ice to 4 glasses. Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of the Cranberry Concord Syrup into the glasses and top with sparkling water. Stir gently and serve.
  • Combine the cranberries, grape jam, grape juice, sugar and orange zest in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries are very soft and easily break apart when pushed with a wooden spoon, about 20 minutes. Do not simmer too hard or the sauce may boil over. Let cool, then strain the syrup into a small pitcher.

Time 1h

Yield 1 drink

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup blackberries
1 cup raspberries
1/2 cup granulated sugar
8 ounces lime flavored sparkling water
Lime wedge and fresh mint sprig, for garnish

Steps:

  • For the simple syrup: Add the berries, sugar and 1/2 cup water to a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the berries have released their juices and the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the liquid into a jar. Cool to room temperature before using.
  • For the lime berry soda: Fill a 12-ounce glass with ice. Top with 1 ounce berry syrup and the sparkling water (save the remaining berry syrup for another use). Stir to combine. Garnish with the lime wedge and mint sprig.

Tips:

  • Selecting Ripe Berries: Opt for plump and brightly colored berries. Avoid mushy or bruised ones.
  • Chilling Ingredients: Pre-chill the soda water, lemon juice, and berries for a refreshing and icy beverage.
  • Adjusting Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter soda, add more simple syrup or honey to taste.
  • Using Fresh Herbs: For an aromatic touch, consider adding fresh mint or basil leaves.
  • Garnishing: Enhance the visual appeal by adding a few fresh berries, a lime wedge, or a sprig of mint as garnish.
