DILL BEER BREAD (GIFT IN A JAR)

Dill Beer Bread (Gift in a Jar) image

My favorite Beer Bread variation, so good with soups. You really don't want to skip the melted butter. This recipe comes from The Perfect Mix by Diane Phillips, so is written as a Gift in a Jar - but of course, you could just mix it up and bake it for yourself, too! :) If you don't have self rising flour (like me!), here's a substitute: Recipe #5247. Time is for baking the bread.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality beer. The flavor of the beer will come through in the bread, so choose one that you enjoy drinking.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will result in a tough bread.
  • If you're using a jar, make sure to grease the inside before adding the batter. This will help prevent the bread from sticking.
  • Bake the bread until it's golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Conclusion:

Beer bread is a quick and easy bread to make, and it's a great way to use up leftover beer. It's also a versatile bread that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Serve it with butter and jam for breakfast, toast it and top it with your favorite sandwich ingredients for lunch, or use it to make croutons or bread crumbs. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, beer bread is sure to be a hit.
