OPEN-FACED BEEF STROGANOFF SANDWICH

Open-Faced Beef Stroganoff Sandwich image

My mother-in-law & I stumbled across this recipe a number of years ago. Although we both love beef stroganoff we couldn't decide if it would make a good sandwich or not and if this was worth trying. And now we are so glad we did! You can use regular hamburger buns or if you prefer a harder bread, thickly slice a sourdough...

1 french bread
2 c sour cream
1 large green bell pepper, diced
2 tomatoes, seeded and diced
3 c cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 5. Spoon onto the bread. Sprinkle with tomatoes, green pepper and cheese.
  • 6. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted (bake longer for crispier bread).

Tips:

  • For the best results, use a good quality steak that is tender and flavorful. Sirloin, ribeye, or flank steak are all good choices.
  • Be sure to slice the steak against the grain. This will help to make it more tender.
  • Don't overcook the steak. It should be cooked to medium-rare or medium, depending on your preference.
  • Use a good quality bread for the sandwiches. A hearty bread, such as sourdough or French bread, will hold up well to the fillings.
  • Be generous with the toppings. The more toppings you use, the more flavorful the sandwiches will be.
  • Serve the sandwiches immediately. They are best when they are hot and fresh.

Conclusion:

Beef stroganoff sandwiches are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. They are also a great way to use up leftover steak. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying sandwich that the whole family will enjoy.
