Steps:
- For the hamburger steaks: Whisk together the mustard, smoked paprika, egg, garlic, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper in a medium mixing bowl. Mix in the ground beef and breadcrumbs by hand, then form into 4 oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Set a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat and add the oil. Add the patties and brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer the patties to a plate; set aside.
- For the onion and mushroom gravy: Turn the heat down to medium and add the mushrooms and thyme. Cook until the mushrooms release their liquid and are browned, about 8 minutes. (The mushrooms might seem dry at first, but will eventually release liquid and add moisture to the pan.) Transfer the mushrooms to a plate; set aside.
- Melt the butter in the pan, add the onions and garlic and cook until translucent and lightly golden, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle in the flour and cook, stirring, until the butter and liquid are absorbed, about 1 minute. Pour the broth and Worcestershire into the pan and stir until the flour is dissolved.
- Turn the heat to high and bring to a boil. Stir the mushrooms back into the pan and nestle in the beef patties. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to medium low. Let simmer until the sauce has thickened and a thermometer inserted into the patties registers 165 degrees F, about 10 minutes.
- Turn the patties over a few times to coat in the sauce. Season with salt and pepper and top with the parsley.

BEEF PATTIES WITH BEEFY MUSHROOM GRAVY
Do you like recipes with a short list of ingredients? Here is a quick and easy, delicious beef patty dish that fits the bill. I found this recipe in a magazine many years ago, and have made it numerous times. Please don't substitute any other soup as it will just not be the same, this one is special! Also, don't add salt - it is not needed. The original recipe called for topping the patties with canned French Fried onions, if desired. I do not usually do this, but you might like them that way.

- Spoon over the patties the undiluted Beefy-Mushroom soup.

- Note: Sometimes I use only 1 lb of ground beef and make 4 patties. This is the only change I make.

Tips:
- Use 80/20 ground beef for the best flavor and texture. If you prefer leaner beef, you can use 90/10, but the patties may be a little dry.
- Season the beef patties generously with salt and pepper. You can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika, to taste.
- Form the beef patties into 3-inch rounds and make a slight indentation in the center of each patty. This will help the patties cook evenly.
- Cook the beef patties over medium heat until they are cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Do not overcook the patties, or they will become dry and tough.
- Make the gravy while the beef patties are cooking. Simply whisk together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened.
- Serve the beef patties with the gravy spooned over top. You can also serve them with mashed potatoes, green beans, or corn.
Conclusion:
These beef patties with gravy are a classic comfort food that are easy to make and always a hit with the family. The patties are juicy and flavorful, and the gravy is rich and flavorful. Serve them with your favorite sides for a delicious and satisfying meal.
