BEST BEEF PARMIGIANA

Best Beef Parmigiana image

I love any kind of parmigiana dish, veal, chicken, whatever! But I must say this stuff is amazing! For the tomato sauce, I use my own homemade tomato sauce, which I have also posted the recipe for here on JAP. So if you're using the homemade sauce or a commercial spaghetti sauce skip the sauce steps and omit those ingredients....

Yield 4 people

Number Of Ingredients 13

½ lb Flank Steak
½ c Parmesan Cheese
½ c Italian Bread Crumbs
1 large Egg, beaten
1/3 c Canola Oil
1 small Onion, finely chopped
6 cloves Garlic, minced
1 (6 oz) can Tomato Paste
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Granulated Sugar
½ tsp Ground Marjoram
1 ½ c Hot Water
½ block Mozzarella Cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Cut steak into 3 x 1" slices Combine Parmesan and Italian breadcrumbs in a bowl and mix well Coat steak in egg Coat with Parmesan mixture Preheat the oven to 350 Heat canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat Cook steak in hot oil until browned on both sides, about 6 minutes Transfer steak to a 13 x 9" baking dish Sauté onion and garlic in skillet until tender, about 4 minutes Add tomato paste, salt, granulated sugar, marjoram and black pepper to onion mixture and mix well Stir in hot water gradually Bring to a boil Boil, stirring to deglaze skillet for 5 minutes Pour three-fourths of sauce over steak Top with the mozzarella and the remaining sauce Bake for 30-45 minutes Serve with parmesan fettuccine if desired

Tips:

  • For the best results, use high-quality ingredients. Look for fresh, flavorful tomatoes, and use a good quality Parmesan cheese.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the eggplant slices. This will prevent them from getting crispy.
  • Be careful not to overcook the eggplant slices. They should be tender but still have a little bit of bite to them.
  • Make sure the sauce is simmering for at least 30 minutes before using it. This will allow the flavors to meld together.
  • For a cheesy, gooey interior, use a combination of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Serve the beef Parmigiana immediately with a side of pasta or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Beef Parmigiana is a classic Italian dish that is sure to please everyone at the table. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it with extra cheese or a side of pasta, beef Parmigiana is a delicious and satisfying meal that is perfect for any occasion.
