2 cups warm water
2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup margarine, softened
1 egg
2 teaspoons salt
7 cups all-purpose flour
1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
6 cups shredded cabbage
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup melted butter

Steps:

  • Prepare dough: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. Mix in sugar, margarine, egg, salt and 1/2 of the flour. Beat until smooth; add remaining flour until dough pulls together. Place in oiled bowl. Cover with foil and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight, OR let it rise for 1 hour.
  • In a large heavy skillet, brown meat. Add onion, cabbage, salt and simmer 30 minutes. Cool until lukewarm. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.) Coat a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1-3/4 cups shortening
1/2 cup ice water
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon white vinegar
FILLING:
2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 cup diced carrots
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch cubes
1 medium onion, chopped
1 to 2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Half-and-half cream

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, combine the water, egg and vinegar. Add to shortening mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing lightly with a fork until mixture forms a ball. Cover and chill for 30 minutes., Meanwhile, combine the first six filling ingredients. 2 (1 pound) loaves frozen bread dough, thawed
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons lemon pepper
1 small head cabbage, chopped
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons caraway seeds
½ cup melted butter

Steps:

  • Saute beef, onion and garlic, salt and lemon pepper in a large skillet over medium high heat, until beef is browned. Add cabbage, Worcestershire sauce and caraway seeds. Cook until cabbage is limp; drain liquid from mixture.
