Time 5h25m

Yield 4 Big Eaters, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 16

5 lbs country-style pork ribs
1 cup chopped celery
2 cups chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1 cup barbecue sauce (I used John Boy and Billy's hot & spicy grillin' sauce)
1 cup water
3 tablespoons dark cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes

Steps:

  • While I boil the pork for 20-30 minutes to decrease fat, I mix all other ingredients together in a large enough bowl and stir to mix well.
  • Put pork in the crock pot, adding sauce as you go, until you get to about an inch from the top.
  • Use as much sauce as you can as it will be needed later to put over the rice.
  • With a big spoon, give a stir to blend all together.
  • Put on the lid, turn on high and let it cook for about 5 hours.
  • After that, you may want to keep it a little longer on low to keep it hot.
  • Serve this with some white rice, baked beans (or just pork& beans), cole slaw and some toasted garlic bread and you have yourself a meal.
  • Be sure to use lots of the sauce over the pork and rice.

Time 1h35m

Yield 4 , 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/2 lbs pork ribs
1 large white onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, mashed
soy sauce
water
sesame oil

Steps:

  • Coat a baking dish with sesame oil and sprinkle with half the onion.
  • Smear ribs with the mashed garlic and place them in the pan on top of the onion.
  • Sprinkle the top of the ribs with the rest of the onion and soy sauce (to taste).
  • Fill pan with about a quarter of an inch of water. Bake at 325 degrees for 1.5 - 2 hours, until meat is crisped on top and pulls away from the bone easily with a fork.
  • Alteration: Add sesame seeds, ground ginger, Tabasco, and a little honey (during the last half hour, so it browns and doesn't scorch)
  • Add lots of hot pepper flakes and some sweet smoked paprika.

BBQ COUNTRY PORK RIBS

BBQ Country Pork Ribs image

These country style ribs are so tender, juicy and simple to make. If you don't like to cook with alcohol you can use apple cider or juice and these come out just as good.

Provided by Dawn Whitted

Categories     Ribs

Time 4h20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lb country style pork ribs
2 tsp garlic salt, with parsley
1 Tbsp onion powder
2 Tbsp mrs. dash garlic & herb season blend
1 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
1 medium yellow onion, peeled & chopped
1 medium jalapeno, deveined, seeded & chopped
1 can(s) 12oz beer i used mgd
2 clove garlic, minced
1/4 c water
1/2 bottle bbq sauce (your favorite)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat large skillet with olive oil on medium heat. Season pork ribs with pepper, onion powder & Mrs. Dash season blend.
  • 2. Brown pork in skillet for 5 minutes or so on each side. Just until they start to brown.
  • 3. Slice onion & jalepeno and spread evenly over bottom of crock pot & place browned pork ribs on top of the onions and pepper.
  • 4. Deglaze the skillet with a few ounces of beer and add minced garlic and pour this over pork in crockpot.
  • 5. Add the remaining beer to the crockpot plus 1/4 - 1/2 C water so it's slightly below the top of the ribs. Cover and set crockpot on low for 4-5 hours.
  • 6. The last 30 minutes of cooking I usually drain off all but 1/4 C liquid with a turkey baster or ladel. Then add BBQ Sauce (we like Cookies)or your own homemade sauce would work. Cover and let the ribs heat with the sauce for 20-30 minutes or so. I serve these with xtra BBQ Sauce, a baked potato and dinner salad or coleslaw. But anything would go great with them. This also makes really great leftover pulled pork sammies...Yum!

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Look for ribs that are meaty and have a good amount of marbling. Avoid ribs that are too fatty or have a lot of bone.
  • Prepare the ribs properly: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and trim off any excess fat. Cut the ribs into individual pieces if desired.
  • Season the ribs well: Use a combination of salt, pepper, and your favorite spices to season the ribs. You can also add a rub or marinade to the ribs for extra flavor.
  • Cook the ribs low and slow: The best way to cook ribs is to cook them low and slow. This will help the ribs to become tender and juicy. You can cook the ribs in the oven, on the grill, or in a smoker.
  • Baste the ribs regularly: While the ribs are cooking, baste them regularly with your favorite BBQ sauce. This will help to keep the ribs moist and flavorful.
  • Let the ribs rest before serving: Once the ribs are cooked, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the ribs to retain their juices.

Conclusion:

Country-style pork ribs are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you're cooking them for a backyard barbecue or a special occasion, these ribs are sure to be a hit. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make fall-off-the-bone ribs that your family and friends will love.
