BASIC SOY BURGERS
If you like Boca burgers you will absolutely adore these yummy, homemade soy burgers. You can cook your own soybeans or find canned soy beans in the health food section of your grocery store. I make double or triple batches of these and freeze them for a quick lunch

Steps:
- Place everything except bread crumbs in a food processor or blender and puree until fairly smooth.
- Transfer to a bowl, and add the bread crumbs. Stir until well combined.
- Form into patties abut 4 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick, using about 1/2 cup of mixture for each patty.
- Heat a heavy, non stick skillet and brush with oil. When pan is hot, add burgers and turn the heat down to medium, and cook for about 10 minutes on each side. Watch them carefully so they get nice and brown but don't burn.
- Serve burger style.

Steps:
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and mix with a fork until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.
- In a food processor, combine the cornstarch slurry, seitan, broccoli, bread crumbs, and salt, and process until there are no more big chunks and everything is thoroughly mixed. It will look like a strange green oatmeal. Transfer to a bowl and let rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes and up to four days covered.
- When you are ready for burgers, divide the burger mixture into sixths, shape the portions into rough balls by rolling them in your hands, and gently press them into patties. I like to use a ring mold to make prettier patties, but you probably don't have one of those, and I applaud your rustic sensibility.
- Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat with enough oil to slick the pan. When the oil shimmers, place as many patties as will fit comfortably in the pan. Once you see the edges start to caramelize, after about 3 minutes, carefully flip the patties and cook an additional 2 minutes. Put the burgers on buns with whatever toppings make you feel badass, listen to "The Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy, eat your super-awesome veggie burger, and flip people off from the window.

Steps:
- Preheat a grill to medium. Form 2 pounds ground beef into eight 4-inch patties, making sure the edges are slightly thicker than the middle; generously season both sides with salt and pepper. Grill until lightly charred, 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium. Toast 8 split hamburger buns on the grill until marked, about 30 seconds. Serve the burgers on the toasted buns with assorted toppings.
BEYOND BASIC BURGERS - 4 DIFFERENT BURGERS
There's a secret to the better burger and you'll find it in the mix. Because the flavors are right in the meat and not just from the toppings, these burgers explode with taste from the first bite to the last. Make an everyday barbecue taste gourmet from the inside out. I found the recipe in Kraft Food & Family magazine. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting it for safe keeping.

Steps:
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Mix 1 pound lean meat, add-ins and 2 tablespoons of the Kraft barbecue sauce. Shape into 4 patties.
- Grill 7-9 minutes on each side or until cooked through, brushing with remaining 2 tablespoons Kraft barbecue sauce during last 2 minutes of grilling time.
- Place on patties on buns.
- Note: For a further flavor kick, try a Kraft singles slice with the pork or beef burgers and cranberry sauce with the turkey burger.
Tips:
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your burgers.
- Don't overwork the meat. Overworking the meat will make it tough.
- Season the meat well. Use a combination of salt, pepper, and other spices to taste.
- Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help to prevent them from drying out.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.
- Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
- Serve the burgers on your favorite bun with your favorite toppings.
Conclusion:
Making perfect burgers at home is easy with fresh ground beef, the right seasonings, and a good grill or pan. By following these tips, you can create juicy, flavorful burgers that will be a hit with your family and friends. So fire up the grill and get cooking!
